Empire Style Ghee Rice
Ready in 30 Minutes
Serves 2
Ingredients
- Jeera rice 1/2Kg or Basmati
- Onions - long sliced
- Ghee
- Cinnamon - 2
- Cloves - 6
- Cardamom - 3
- Star Anise -3
- Bay Leaves - 4
- Green Chillies - 4
- Ginger - small chopped
- Salt
- Coriander leaves, fried onions, fried cashews - for Garnish
Preparation
- Wash the rice and soak in water for 30 minutes.
- In a cooker, add ghee, all spices, onions and fry till golden brown.
- Add chopped ginger and fry.
- Add soaked rice, mix well and fry in high flame.
- Optionally you can add small chopped carrot for color.
- Add salt and water. Water to be added in the ratio of 1.25 cup water for 1 cup rice.
- Close the lid and cook for 2 whistles or if using open pot cook till rice is soft.
- Once cooked, garnish with fried onions ,coriander leaves and fried cashew and serve.
